Holiday Home Decor for the Fashion Girl

·

It's officially that time of year when our social calendars start to fill up! For many of you that means hosting friends and family to share some holiday cheer, an occasion which can be met with a variety of emotions. For some, the thought of hosting can be rather daunting, especially when it comes to making your home feel festive.

This year, instead of hauling in loads of greenery and decorations that are only acceptable during the holiday season, try opting for a few stylish and season-less pieces. With the right scented candle, some cozy accessories, special tableware & a seasonal floral arrangement in a stunning vase, your home can say, "Happy Holidays!" without a single gaudy ornament, left to collect dust the remainder of the year.

Fornasetti Candle

Who doesn't love a Fornasetti candle?! With a golden bow and hints of incense, this stunning candle will fill your home with a gorgeous heady aroma that will have sugar plum fairies dancing in your guests' heads. When the holidays are over, don't put this ceramic piece away! It'll be a beautiful accessory in your home all year round.

Known for polished, punk-inspired style, Preen By Thornton Bregazzi has fittingly branched out from their clothing line and added a homeware collection! With vibrant reds and traditional argyle prints, this collection of pillows and throws can make any room feel festive but will also remain stylish throughout fall and winter seasons for years to come.

R+D.LAB X LEE MATHEWS

Whether you're just serving drinks and nibbles or a formal sit-down dinner, it's nice to add in a few special pieces of glassware. Instead of garish greens and reds, opt for softer tones that still feel festive. We love this R+ D.LAB X LEE MATHEWS collection inspired by one of Lee Mathews' most recent clothing collections. These carefully considered hues are reminiscent of warm candlelight, soft pink poinsettia and mulled wine. That said, there is nothing about this stunning collection that marries them exclusively to the holidays! For example, pair them with a different tablecloth and peonies in June and you've got a whole new look.

Annisa Kermiche

Fresh flowers are key for any celebration and involve the smallest amount of commitment. This is an area where it's ok to choose plants and blossoms that are specific to the season! We love the idea of Holiday/Christmas-y flowers and greenery BUT paired with a vase that's sculptural, season-less and interesting. We know that jewelry designer Anissa Kermiche's vases above don't necessarily scream "'tis the season"... but they are striking none-the-less and will make just about any floral arrangement look chic year-round!

When you put all these little touches together, what you're left with is a less-is-more approach to creating a seasonal mood or atmosphere that is far more powerful than any glittering, artificial snowman. It's about evoking a feeling of togetherness, being cozy and creating nostalgia for happy memories of the past. If after lighting candles, pillow chopping, floral arranging and setting the table you're still not feeling festive, throw some carols and holiday tunes on- it never fails!
